Kathmandu. The government is in the final stage of abolishing four of the currently existing ministries as it takes a major step toward administrative reform.

Taking into account the country’s economic situation, the government is preparing to take this far-reaching step in order to reduce administrative expenditure, eliminate duplication among state bodies, and bring greater efficiency to performance.

The mai objective of this restructuring is to transform small and scattered ministries into larger and integrated bodies. Under the proposed plan, the separate existence of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Water Supply, the Ministry of Urban Development, and the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration will end. Their areas of responsibility will be adjusted into other ministries, and some important departments are being prepared to be brought under the Office of the Prime Minister.
