Resolution against Iran war passed in Republican-controlled Senate

Main News Image

Kathmandu. The US Senate has passed a war resolution that directs President Donald Trump to seek congressional approval before suspending or continuing military action against Iran. This is seen as a major blow to Trump as his Republican Party controls the US Senate.

Some Republican lawmakers joined Democrats in Tuesday's vote. This is believed to be due to both Democrats' and Republicans' anger over the Iran war. The resolution passed by a vote of 50 to 48. The same resolution passed in the House of Representatives in June, where four Republican lawmakers joined all Democrats to approve it by a vote of 215 to 208.
