Rato Machhindranath's chariot was brought to Thititol, this evening 'Coconut felling procession'
Kathmandu. The chariot of the famous red Machhindranath, who is considered to be the god of rain and time, has been brought to the thatitoll at Lagankhel in Lalitpur today. According to the scheduled schedule of the Rath Yatra, the devotees and the participants of the Jatra enthusiastically pulled the Chariot.
With the arrival of Rath Thatitol, the ``Nariwal Khasalne Jatra'', which is considered a special attraction here, will be held this evening. A huge throng of devotees gather at Thatitol to witness this tradition of dropping coconuts from the top of the chariot (near Gajuri) and to catch the dropped coconuts. According to popular belief, a person who can hold this coconut is considered to get good fruits and get children.
This stage of the Jatra will proceed in a formal manner after the process of dropping coconuts is over this evening. The local administration and concerned bodies have shown special activity to make this Jatra, which is considered to be the longest and culturally important in Lalitpur, organized and safe.
