Question of press freedom and professionalism: World Press Freedom Day is being celebrated today

Kathmandu. Today, 'World Press Freedom Day' is being celebrated with various programs to protect the rights of journalists and media workers around the world. On the call of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization UNESCO, every year since 1993 May 3rd has been celebrated as a special day of press freedom. This year too, this day is going to be celebrated all over the world, including Nepal, with the aim of guaranteeing the importance of press freedom, the safety of journalists and the right to information.

In Nepal, the Federation of Nepalese Journalists and various media-related organizations have organized morning processions, interactions and seminars on the occasion of this day. As the press is considered as the fourth organ of the state in a democratic system, it is believed that its freedom and impartiality will strengthen the democracy.
