Public debt reached 58 trillion
Kathmandu. The share of public debt in GDP has reached 47.13 percent. As the government took 28 trillion 78 billion rupees in public debt till the end of February of the current financial year, its ratio to GDP has increased. According to the Public Debt Management Office, the public debt which was 26 trillion 74 billion 4 billion at the beginning of the current year has increased to 28 trillion 78 billion 29 billion by the middle of February.
As of mid-February, the share of foreign debt in public debt is 53.16 percent and the share of domestic debt is 46.84 percent. In the eight months of the current financial year, the government has taken a total of 2 trillion 4 billion 24 billion rupees in public debt. In the current fiscal year, a total of 5 trillion 95 billion public debt was set to be mobilized, but only 2 trillion 95 billion 19 billion rupees have been received by the end of February.
