Prime Minister's request to extend voter registration period, Election Commission positive

Kathmandu. Prime Minister Sushila Karki has requested the Election Commission to extend the time specified for registration of voter list. The prime minister said that due to the current excitement and pressure in the collection of the voter list, the extension of the deadline is necessary. Prime Minister Karki communicated with Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari over telephone and requested to extend the deadline. Bhandari has informed the Prime Minister that the Commission is positive on this issue and that the deadline can be extended by five days.

There has been a lot of traffic online since yesterday, after the online registration of the voter list was launched based on the details of the National Identity Card. Along with this, the Prime Minister also expressed concern about some technical problems seen in the Internet server. Commissioner Bhandari informed that work is being done to solve the problems seen online.

The commission has set a time limit of 30 October to register the names of those who are not in the voter's list despite reaching the age.
