Preparations are being made for Maghe Sankranti in Mithilanchal
Kathmandu. Grand preparation for Maghe Sankranti festival is going on in the entire Mithila region including Mahottari. Maghe Sankranti festival is also famous as Tila Sankranti festival in Mithilanchal. In the local language it is called Tila Sankranti and in some places it is also called Tila Sankrayat.
During this festival, it is customary to eat laddoos made by adding sugar to chiura, bhuja and sesame in every house in Mithila. As there is a custom to eat khichdi which is made by mixing rice, dal, ghee and vegetables together, now the common people here are busy in gathering the necessary items for preparing the festival dishes like sakhkhar, chiura, bhuja, sesame, ginger, special type of rice, urid and kurthi dal, ghee, yam and other delicious vegetables.
