Kathmandu. The government has started the price adjustment process to solve the frequent shortage of essential medicines. Due to the lack of price review for a long time, the supply of some life-saving medicines in the market is being affected due to price mismatch with production and import costs.

On Friday, the price monitoring committee meeting chaired by Acting Director General Shivani Khadgi of the Drug Administration Department decided to move forward with the proposal regarding price adjustment of drugs. The committee has concluded that the prices of drugs that are lacking in the market due to production and import costs should be reviewed. According to Acting Director General Khadgi, manufacturers and importers are having difficulty in providing these medicines in the market due to the low prices of some medicines.
