Prakash Pathak arrested in Philippines for threatening Chief Commissioner Rai

Kathmandu. Prakash Pathak, who threatened Premkumar Rai, chief commissioner of the Abuse of Authority Investigation Commission, has been arrested. Pathak, who was issued a diffusion notice by the international crime police organization Interpol at the request of the Nepal Police, was arrested by the fugitive accused search unit under the Philippine Bureau of Immigration BI from Malolos city.

BI has published the details with Pathak's photo on its website. The District Court, Kathmandu issued an arrest warrant on December 1, 2025 for the offense of criminal treachery. It is said that the details have reached BI. A diffusion notice was also issued to Interpol against Pathak on charges of extortion and criminal conspiracy.

"According to the official information received by the Immigration of the Philippines, he made statements that incited escaped prisoners not to surrender, provided financial support and indicated that he had access to weapons," the website of the Immigration said, "He was also found to be connected to a conspiracy to kill a high-ranking foreign government official."

According to Philippine immigration records, Pathak arrived there on August 18, 2025. He had a residence permit until December 18. It is said that he will be held in immigration detention until the deportation process is completed.
