Pooja Mahato's patient half-century put Nepal back on the winning track

Kathmandu. With the help of Pooja Mahato's unbeaten half-century innings, Nepal registered its first victory in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup Global Qualifier. Nepal kept themselves alive in the tournament by defeating Zimbabwe by 6 wickets in the match held at the Trivi Cricket Ground on Saturday.

Chasing a target of 130 runs, Nepal completed the target in 19.3 overs with the loss of four wickets. Pooja Mahato scored unbeaten 52 runs off 50 balls with four fours and two sixes while batting under pressure. Captain Indu Burma contributed 22 runs.

Earlier, Zimbabwe lost the toss and batted first. Kellys Dhalovu added 52 runs unbeaten for Zimbabwe while Beloved Bija scored 34 runs. Modester Mupachiwa contributed 14 runs.

Nepal's bowlers collectively looked impressive. Riya Sharma took two wickets while Kavita Kunwar, Pooja Mahato, Sita Ranamar and Rubina Chhetri took one wicket each.

With this victory, Nepal has saved hope in the tournament. Now Nepal will play the last match against Scotland on Monday, where the pressure of victory is still there.
