Peaceful elections should be guaranteed: President
Kathmandu. President Ramchandra Paudel has said that the security agencies should be actively and firmly present to ensure an environment for fearless, free and fair elections. In a discussion held at Rashtrapati Bhawan Sheetal Niwas on Saturday, President Paudel addressed the heads of the four security agencies and asked them to guarantee peace and security in a way that would convince the common citizens and political parties. Interim Prime Minister Sushila Karki and other ministers also participated in the discussion.
President Paudel said on August 24 that everyone should play an important role in arresting the looted weapons and escaped prisoners immediately and bringing them to the legal sphere, according to Kiran Pokharel, President's press adviser. Participating in the discussion, Prime Minister Karki said that the government will leave no stone unturned to make the elections free, fair and fear-free, and promised to provide all necessary resources for the security agencies. The heads of the security agencies have reminded that they have conducted elections in difficult circumstances in the past and informed that they are fully prepared for the current elections.
