NPL: Sudurpaschim and Lumbini clash for the title
Kathmandu. The final match of the second edition of the Nepal Premier League NPL will be held in the capital today. Former runners-up Sudurpaschim Royals and Lumbini Lions will face each other in the final match which will start at 3:30 PM at the Trivi International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur.
Sudurpaschim came close to the title after defeating Biratnagar by 77 runs in the first qualifier. Lumbini also defeated Biratnagar by 40 runs in the second qualifier to secure a place in the finals. Biratnagar, who lost to Sudurpaschim in the first qualifier, got a chance to play the second qualifier.
Dipendrasingh Airey captained the Sudurpaschim title contender team. Sudoorpaschim, who lost to Janakpur Bolts in the final last year by 5 wickets, is aiming to defend the title this time.
Lumbini, led by Rohit Paudel, who was eliminated from the league stage in the last edition, is at stake to bring in the trophy this time anyway. Sudurpaschim won by 7 wickets in the match between these two in the league stage.
The winner of the APL will receive a prize of Rs 10 million. The second team will get Rs 51 lakh, the third team will get Rs 25 lakh and the fourth will get Rs 15 lakh.
Eight teams participated in the tournament, which started on November 1st, under the auspices of the Nepal Cricket Association.
