Nepali film "Elephants in the Fog" was selected in Cannes.
Kathmandu. The Nepali film 'Elephants in the Fog' has been selected for the 79th edition of the world famous Cannes Film Festival. This film has been selected under the category 'On Certain Regard' at Cannes. Directed by Avinash Vikram Shah, this film is also the first film from Nepal to be selected in the major category after the main competition. 'On Certain Regard' features young directors and different storytellers.
The film, which received mentorship at Cannes, will now compete for the 'On Certain Regard Prize' for Best Film, Best Director and the Special Jury Prize. This film tells the story of a family in a slum affected by an elephant attack. The relationship between mother and daughter is shown along with the pain they have to go through because of the elephant. Which family represents the sexual and minority community.
Akanksha Karki, Pushpa Thing, Deepika Yadav, Jasmin Vishwakarma, Shanti Giri, Gauri Malla, Maotse Gurung, Sanjay Gupta Dura, Mahima Navbagh and others are acting in the film. France, Germany, Brazil and Norway have invested in the film along with two Nepali companies Underground Talkies Nepal and Jayanthi Creations. Earlier, Shah's short film 'Lori' has also been selected in Cannes. Who created history by winning the Special Medal in the 75th edition of Cannes.
