Kathmandu. The government has amended the controversial provision made through an ordinance in the Prevention of Asset Laundering and Money Laundering Act and returned it to the old legal system. Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle has said that some of the provisions introduced through the ordinance have been corrected after concluding that some of the provisions were overreached more than expected.

Speaking at the Legislation Management Committee meeting on Wednesday, Finance Minister Wagle clarified that although the ordinance was introduced with the aim of making the legal framework against money laundering effective, it had to be amended as there was a risk that it could be misused unexpectedly.
