Ministry of Home Affairs urges not to spread hate speech and misleading content

Kathmandu. The Ministry of Home Affairs has requested not to publish malicious, misleading and hateful expressions through social media. The ministry warned that such activities would disrupt social harmony, religious tolerance and public peace.
Through the press release, the ministry said that the process of bringing people or groups involved in illegal activities targeting community and religion, unrestrained behavior, vandalism, arson and violent acts to religious places has been brought under the legal ambit. The Ministry of Home Affairs has also clarified that hate speech prohibited by law is a punishable crime.
