Mexico's victory in the opening game of the World Cup, three players received red cards

Kathmandu. Mexico got off to a good start in the FIFA World Cup 2026 opening match by defeating South Africa. In today's match at the Mexico City Stadium, the home team Mexico started the tournament well by defeating South Africa by 2-0.

Julian Quinones and Raul Jimenez scored one goal each for Mexico. In the ninth minute of the game, Julian Quinones scored to give Mexico an early lead. Julian scored by making use of the pass given by Eric Lira. In the 49th minute of the game, Sefelo Sithole of South Africa got the first red card and left the field, and South Africa became limited to 10 players.

Then in the 67th minute of the game, Raul Jimenez doubled Mexico's lead. Another player from South Africa, Themba Zwane, received a red card in the 84th minute of the match. After that, South Africa became limited to nine players. Mexico's Cesar Montes also got a red card and left the field in the extra time of the second half of the game.
