Maoists request to create the necessary environment for elections

Kathmandu. The Maoist Center of the Communist Party of Nepal has requested to create the necessary environment for the elections scheduled for February 21. In the all-party meeting called by Prime Minister Sushila Karki on Tuesday, the party has drawn the attention of the government to create a fear-free environment for the elections.

According to Varshman Pun, a member of the secretariat of the party, the government needs to create an environment for the elections, but as it is not getting enough attention, it needs to take immediate steps. The Maoist Center reiterated that it had decided to participate in the elections and also informed that it had issued instructions to update the voter list. Similarly, the government was of the view that active initiatives should be taken to ensure a fair, rigged, fear-free and clean election on the declared date.

Mentioning that they have started an election-focused campaign, the Maoist Center urged Nepali Congress and other parties including CPN-UML to take necessary steps immediately. Leaders Pampha Bhusal and Barshaman again participated in the meeting from the Maoist center.
