Mandatory IT audit system implemented in Nepal Stock Exchange for brokers

Kathmandu. Nepal Stock Exchange NEPSE has issued 'IT Audit Guidelines-2026' to make the digital infrastructure of the capital market safe and reliable and has implemented a mandatory information technology IT audit system for broker companies.
According to the new provision, every broker will have to conduct an IT audit at least once in two years, while the new broker will have to complete the first audit within six months of starting business. The audit should be done by a recognized IT expert or an audit firm and the report should be submitted to NAPS.
According to the guidelines, all digital structures including trade management system TMS, back office software, customer data management, server, database, network, website and mobile app will be under the scope of testing. Also, the effectiveness of user authentication, data backup, firewall, encryption and cyber security policy must also be tested.
