Maghe Sankranti is being celebrated today, a public holiday across the country
Kathmandu. Today is the first day of the month of Magha i.e. Maghe Sankranti. It is being celebrated by eating ghee, chaku and yam and other dishes. Since today the Sun will enter Makar Rashi from Sagittarius, Maghe Sankranti is also called Makar Sankranti. Maghe Sankranti or Makar Sankranti festival is celebrated by different castes of Nepal with joy in their own way.
Especially the Tharu community celebrates the Maghi festival as a new year. Similarly, eating ghee, chaku, tarul, sesame laddu, sellroti, dhikri and khichdi is a tradition of having fun with the family.
As these dishes provide warmth in winters, hot dishes are eaten during the cold season festivals. According to Ayurveda doctors, tridosh is destroyed by these foods. On January 1 in Dharmasindhu, people who do not eat ghee, knives, sesame dishes, khichdi, don't donate, don't bathe in reservoirs, and don't meditate will be ill for the rest of their lives, according to theologian professor Toyraj Nepal.
Nowadays, massaging the body with sesame oil is believed to flush out impurities. Ayurveda classically believes that the pulse, nervous system and bones of the body can be kept strong and healthy by massaging sesame oil.
