Main News Image

Kanchanpur. The 'Madana Chanchar' bird has appeared for the first time in Shuklaphanta National Park, which is rich in biological diversity. This bird, which is found especially in the mid-hill and Himalayan forest areas, is considered to be important in terms of conservation. This bird was recorded for the first time in the park by the senior ornithologist Hirolal Dagoura, Dilip Chand Thakuri, Suman Chaudhary, Dr. Vaktar Pandey and other team of Nepal Bird Conservation Association 9VCN0 during the bird observation in the park. The scientific name of 'Madana Chanchar' is Turdus bubul. This thrush is a bird belonging to the warbler family.

Although the International Union for Conservation of Nature (AYUCN) has placed it in the 'Least Concern' i.e. normal category, it is a completely new and rare species for Shuklaphanta, said Dagoura, a ornithologist.

According to him, this bird mainly lives in the humid forests of the mid-hills and the Himalayas. This species, which is usually found at an altitude of 1800 to 2700 meters, may descend a bit in winter. But seeing it in the plains of Terai can be considered unusual, said Dagoura, an ornithologist.
