Local resources should be used to solve farmers' problems: Balen

Chitwan. Balen Shah, a senior leader of the Rashtriya Swatantra Party RSVP, has said that farmers are forced to spill milk and throw away vegetables because they do not get a fair price for their produce. Addressing the 'We have come' change announcement meeting held in Chitwan, he alleged that due to limited intermediaries and syndicates of leaders, artificial scarcity and confusion are created in the market.

Shah pointed out the need to build a cheap cold store using the cheap electricity produced in Nepal. He said that if the vegetables that are cheap in the season can be stored and sold at the same price during the shortage, the farmers will get a reasonable price and the consumers will also be able to buy the goods at a discount.

He said, "There is a problem in Chitwan. Where farmers are seen pouring milk and throwing vegetables on the road. Farmers are facing such a situation when they do not get the market and do not get the right price. This is happening because of a syndicate of limited middlemen and limited leaders. It is important to stop such confusion. If the cheap electricity produced in Nepal is stored in the cheap cold store of Nepal during the season when vegetables are cheap, it can be sold at the same price during the expensive season. Farmers also get the price, consumers can also buy cheaply, we want to do that.

He mentioned that the problems across the country are largely of the same nature and said that local resources and possibilities should be used to solve the challenges faced in the agriculture and tourism sectors. "The problem of one district can be solved in another district, Raswapa wants to be a party that can solve it," he said.
