Iran's stance on non-compromise on nuclear capabilities
Kathmandu. At a time when regional tensions were at their peak, Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, made it clear that the country's nuclear and missile capabilities would not be compromised under any circumstances. In a statement aired on state television amid US pressure and an uncertain ceasefire environment, he noted that the Islamic Republic's scientific, technological and military capabilities are linked to its national identity and its protection is imperative.
Khamenei, who took over the leadership after his father died in an airstrike, strongly criticized the American presence in the Persian Gulf region and called the current situation a new chapter in history.
