Iran imposes new system on Hormuz Strait, stern warning to Kuwait and UAE

Kathmandu. Ibrahim Azizi, Chairman of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Iranian Parliament, has announced that his country will soon implement a new system for ship traffic through the strategically important Strait of Hormuz. Speaking to the media on Saturday, President Azizi claimed that the new system was designed to protect Iran's sovereignty and the security of international trade. 

According to Ibrahim Azizi, only commercial ships and countries cooperating with Iran can benefit from this new arrangement. In addition to this, he informed that taxes will also be levied on ships for certain services provided under this new system.

The international business world has watched with interest this step that Iran is going to take in the Strait of Hormuz, which is considered one of the most important oil supply routes in the world.
