Information technology is essential for improving public services: Minister of Communications
Kathmandu. Minister of Communication and Information Technology Dr. Bikram Timilsina said that information technology has now become a basic need of citizens. On the occasion of the 9th National Information and Communication Technology Day, 2083, he said that the role of information technology has become indispensable for good governance, effective service delivery, economic development, entrepreneurship promotion and citizen empowerment in the digital age.
Regarding the day being celebrated with the basic slogan of 'Expansion of Information Technology, Foundation of Sustainable Development', Minister Timilsina mentioned that the Government of Nepal is moving towards making the public service system more simple, transparent, responsive and citizen-friendly by putting into practice the goal of creating Digital Nepal. In order to achieve this goal, long-term information technology strategy development and digital public infrastructure development aimed at the next decade have been given high priority.
