Import of 6.5 billion liters of fuel from the petroleum pipeline, saving three billion in transportation annually

Kathmandu. Nepal-India International Petroleum Pipeline Project has completed six years of operation. Nepal Oil Corporation's Madhes regional office Amlekhganj said that since the pipeline from Motihari in India to Amlekhganj in Nepal was put into operation, six billion 349.2 million liters of petroleum products have been imported through the pipeline.
Provincial Chief Pralayankar Acharya informed that 6.143.5 million liters of diesel, 20.15 million liters of petrol and 4.1 million liters of kerosene have been imported through the pipeline so far. Currently, petrol, diesel and kerosene are being imported from Motihari to Amlekhganj through the pipeline. The then Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi jointly inaugurated the project on 24 August 2076.
From the same day, diesel is being imported through the pipeline. Similarly, from October 24, 2081, petrol and from November 19, 2081, kerosene have been brought through the pipeline. The total length of South Asia's first inland pipeline project is 69.2 km. Out of this, 33 km towards India and 36.2 km towards Nepal.
