High pesticide found in mustard greens

Kathmandu. During the regular pesticide test conducted at the fruit and vegetable market in Kalimati, more pesticide residues than the specified standard were found in the greens brought from Bhaktapur. 

According to the test report published on June 16 by the Central Agricultural Laboratory, Pesticide Residue Rapid Analysis Laboratory Unit of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, 80.0160 percent of organophosphate group pesticides were found in the greens of Rayo brought from Madhyapur Thimi Municipality, Bhaktapur, so the sample has been placed in the category of 'disposable'.

According to the report, the sample was produced by farmer Sita Regmi and it was decided that it should be destroyed after it was found unfit for consumption during testing in Kalimati. The laboratory conducted pesticide tests on a total of 12 vegetable samples today. The samples tested included vegetables such as mustard greens, green onion, black pepper, cucumber, green coriander, ghiraula and lamb.
