Free Wi-Fi Internet at 19 places in Kathmandu
Kathmandu. From now on, free Wi-Fi internet will be available in 19 different public places in Kathmandu. On the initiative of the Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Jagdish Kharel, free Wi-Fi internet service has been extended to various hospitals, Pashupatinath temple premises, airports, as well as sensitive, important and public service areas.
According to the ministry, Wi-Fi Internet service has been provided in places where it has already been maintained, quality has been increased and capacity has been expanded, while new connections have been made in eight places, including three under construction. According to the ministry, Wi-Fi service will now be available in Kathmandu's new bus park, Bhaktapur Hospital, Bhaktapur Cancer Hospital, Kirtipur Hospital and Tribhuvan International Airport with new installations and capacity expansion.
In addition, installation and capacity building work is underway at the Big Varyang Traffic Management Office in Kathmandu and the Transport Management Office at Ekantakuna in Lalitpur. According to the ministry, the new establishment is in progress at the traffic management office at Radheradhe in Bhaktapur.
For the continuation and sustainability of free Wi-Fi, the relevant organization has already entered into an agreement with the service provider company. Nepal Telecom, Worldlink and Vinet Company have collaborated to establish free Wi-Fi internet. On the special initiative of the Minister of Communications Kharel, the regulator Nepal Telecommunication Authority has expanded the access to free Wi-Fi internet in coordination with the service provider companies.
