Formation of study task force to ensure purchase of indigenous chemical fertilizers
Kathmandu. The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Environment has formed a high-level study task force to identify the necessary legal and policy arrangements to ensure the purchase of manufactured fertilizers after the establishment of a chemical fertilizer factory in Nepal and the start of production.
Agriculture, Forestry and Environment Minister Geeta Chaudhary made a ministerial decision on Thursday, October 15, and formed a working group consisting of experts from the Ministry of Agriculture, Finance, Industry and Energy and the Public Procurement Monitoring Office. Although work is progressing with the aim of establishing a chemical fertilizer factory in Nepal and reducing the dependence on fertilizer imports, this step has been taken because there is no clear legal provision regarding ensuring the purchase of domestically produced fertilizers.
