Farmers are dissatisfied with the support price of wheat, complaining that even the cost does not rise
Kathmandu. Farmers have expressed dissatisfaction with the support price of wheat set by the government. Although the government has fixed the support price of wheat at Rs 3,945 per quintal this year, the farmers complain that the price does not even cover the cost of production. Farmers say that the price fixed by the government is not practical as the cost of production has increased due to the increase in the price of petroleum products recently. They say that when the prices are inceasing, the support price is not able to cover the expenses.
Even though the government has fixed the support price, the farmers are facing more problems as the Kanchanpur-based Food Management and Trade Company Limited has not started purchasing wheat. It is said that the farmers are facing difficulties in selling the produce due to the delay in the procurement process.
