Kathmandu. Bangladesh has agreed to take an additional 20 MW of electricity from Nepal. The seventh meeting of the Energy Secretary-level joint directorate committee of Nepal and Bangladesh held on Thursday has agreed to complete the necessary process for the export of 20 MW of electricity in addition to the 40 MW of hydropower that is currently being exported.

Sandeep Kumar Dev, spokesperson of the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, who participated in the meeting, informed that Bangladesh has agreed to import more electricity by making the necessary technical preparations. The meeting of the board of directors was held in Dhaka under the co-chairmanship of Energy Secretary Chiranjeevi Chatout from Nepal and Farzana Mamtaj, Secretary of the Ministry of Electricity, Energy and Minerals from Bangladesh.

In that meeting, the recommendations made by the meeting of the joint working group held on Wednesday, November 10, were discussed. The joint working group meeting was co-chaired by Dev, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Energy and KM Ali Reza, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Electricity, Energy and Minerals on behalf of the Government of Bangladesh.
