Electricity arrears free from political interference, those obstructing the recovery are dead: Minister Ghisingh

Kathmandu. Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Kulman Ghising has said that the recovery of electricity dues is now free from political interference. Today, through social media, Ghising said that due to interference from the political level in the past, the collection of arrears was affected, but now this problem has been removed. He said that the process of recovery of electricity dues has entered a new phase with the removal of political interference.

"In the past, when the general public was suffering from the darkness of load shedding, the first installment of the outstanding amount of the premium tariff assigned to industries consuming electricity through dedicated and trunk line structures has been paid by most of the industries," Energy Minister Ghisingh wrote on Facebook, "with this, the process of arrears collection, which affected the general public from the political leadership to the general public, has now entered a new phase."

He also mentioned that this issue has become a matter of national concern due to interference from the political level in the steps taken repeatedly by the Nepal Electricity Authority in accordance with the law.
