Election Security Tightened in Border Areas: Increased Control of Illegal Transactions
Kathmandu. In view of the upcoming election of members of the House of Representatives, the Rautahat border post has been tightened. According to the local residents, as the date of the election is approaching, there is a possibility of increasing the illegal trade of arms, bullets, ammunition, tobacco and drugs from Indian land to Rautahat. The police force in the district has been made stronger and more dynamic, resulting in reduced activity of gangs involved in smuggling.
In order to maintain peace and order and ensure that the people exercise their rights, the security apparatus is maintaining strict vigilance for the upcoming House of Representatives election on February 21. According to Rautahat Police Chief Sitaram Rizal, tax evasion and importation of illegal goods have decreased. The police has succeeded in improving this situation by cooperating with other security agencies.
Krishnadev Prasad Sah, Chief of the Area Police Office, Simraungadh, informed that tax evasion and illegal transactions have come under control due to strict security arrangements in the border areas. He said, the rate of arrest of people involved in illegal transactions through Chorbato has increased and gangs involved in theft have become inactive. In addition, the Simraungarh Police Office said that in the last three months, they have arrested 4 absconding defendants, filed 18 cases, arrested 4 persons with 80 kg of ganja and seized 46,000 pieces of drug hydrochloride.
