Deuba-Shekhar meeting: Discussion on resolving the dispute within the Congress
Kathmandu. Former Chairman of Nepali Congress Sher Bahadur Deuba and leader Dr. A meeting was held between Shekhar Koirala. The meeting between the two leaders took place amid the growing controversy and possibility of division within the party.
Leader Koirala reached Deuba's residence on Friday morning and met former chairman Deuba. Koirala's personal secretary Dinesh Thapalia informed that the current political situation, disputes within the Congress and maintaining party unity were discussed in the meeting.
According to Thapalia, the meeting was focused on solving the problems within the party and maintaining unity. He said, "There was a meeting this morning. The meeting focused on the current situation and party unity.
Lately, there has been a controversy within the Congress regarding the issue of the Speaker. Polarization within the party has increased after the Deuba group went ahead with the indication that they will not accept Gagan Thapa as the chairman. The founding party has put forward the agenda for holding the convention in the coming October.
