Demand to declare emergency in construction sector
Kathmandu. The Construction Industry Council has demanded to declare an emergency in the construction sector. In a statement issued by the council, it is said that the industry has come to a standstill due to the excessive increase in the price of construction materials. The statement said that due to the Middle East war, there has been a continuous increase in the prices of diesel, petrol, kerosene and other fuel products. Along with this, the increase in the price of bitumen, cement, sand and other essential construction materials and the shortage in the market has become a challenge for construction professionals.
The Council said that the current legal system cannot adjust the price, and requested that the 'Guidelines for Price Adjustment-2' should be issued immediately and the problems of the builders should be addressed immediately by making arrangements for price adjustment in contracts of all durations.
