Demand for electricity during Lakshmi Puja will reach 1,700 MW
Kathmandu. Nepal Electricity Authority has predicted that the production will be more than the maximum demand of electricity during this year's Tihar. According to the authority, it is estimated that the maximum demand for electricity will reach 1,700 MW on the day of Lakshmi Puja and the production will be 2,500 MW. The Executive Director of the Authority, Galgayu Kumar Shrestha, said that since the production is about 800 megawatts more than the demand, there will be no problem in power supply during Tihar. He says that domestic production alone will be enough to meet the demand of Tihar.
The authority has made special preparations in the production, transmission and distribution system to ensure regular and quality electricity supply during Tihar and Chhath festivals. According to the Authority, arrangements have been made to keep the technical staff on standby 24 hours a day to prevent interruption of electricity supply during the festival.
