Death toll rises to 19 in massive fire in West Bengal

Kathmandu. The death toll has reached 19 in a massive fire that broke out in two connected warehouses in India's eastern state of West Bengal. All India Radio AIR reported that many people are still missing. A fire broke out from a godown early on Monday morning in Nazirabad area of ​​Anandpur in South 24 Parganas district, about 12 km south of Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal.

According to local media, around 25 to 30 people are still missing, so the death toll is likely to increase. Meanwhile, the police arrested the owner of the godown and produced him in court, which sent him to eight days of police custody. According to AIR, authorities have ordered an investigation to find out the cause of the fire and a forensic team has started collecting evidence from the spot.
