Damage of one billion on Beni-Jomsom-Korla road due to monsoon disaster, reconstruction will cost up to 4 billion
Myagdi. Due to the latest monsoon disaster, the Beni-Jomsom-Korla road of strategic importance connecting China and India has been damaged to the physical structure worth about 1 billion rupees. It is initially estimated that a budget of 3 to 4 billion rupees will be required to restore this road, which was damaged due to the landslides and the flooding and erosion of the Kaligandaki river after the incessant rains of the second week of last October.
According to the Beni-Jomsom-Korla road plan, the flood of Kaligandaki has washed away roads in 10 places and landslides have damaged more than 50 places. According to the project head, Tejashwi Sharma, even if the damaged road costing around 80 to 90 million rupees is temporarily repaired and put into operation within 2 weeks, a large budget is required for sustainable reconstruction. "In addition to landslide and river control, the Myagdi section now has to work according to the design of the asphalt pitch," said Sharma.
