Congress meeting: Leaders stand on the issue of the date of the convention
Kathmandu. In the Nepali Congress Central Working Committee meeting, the leaders have maintained their position on the date of the party convention.
In a meeting held at the party office Sanepa on Wednesday, the leaders of the founding party are of the opinion that the convention should be held after the House of Representatives elections, while the leaders of other factions of the founding party are of the opinion that the convention should be held before the election.
Some central members are of the opinion that the party should be unified by going to a special convention. The Congress meeting has been prolonged due to the convention dispute. Party spokesperson Dr. Prakasharan Mahat informed that the central working committee will continue for three more days and efforts are being made to reach a consensus on the matter of the convention. Earlier on Tuesday, Chief Minister Gagan Kumar Thapa and Joint Chief Minister Mahendra Yadav presented separate agendas.
On Wednesday, joint general minister Farmullah Mansoor, central members Prakashman Singh, Padman Narayan Chaudhary, Jeevan Bahadur Shahi, Surendraraj Pandey, Shankar Bhandari and others gave their opinion. Spokesman Mahat said that the meeting will resume at 11:30 am on Thursday.
