Chennai Defeats Mumbai by 8 Wickets, Playoff Race Becomes More Exciting

Kathmandu: In the Indian Premier League (IPL) match played on Saturday, Chennai Super Kings defeated Mumbai Indians by 8 wickets. This was Chennai’s second win over Mumbai this season. With this victory, Chennai has kept its chances of reaching the playoffs alive, while Mumbai Indians’ path to the next stage has become much more difficult.

At Chepauk Stadium, Mumbai won the toss and chose to bat first, scoring 159 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Chasing a target of 160, Chennai reached the target in just 18.1 overs with only 2 wickets down. Karthik Sharma sealed the win for the team by hitting a four off the first ball of Trent Boult.

For Chennai, captain Ruturaj Gaikwad played a captain’s knock, remaining unbeaten on 67 runs off 48 balls. He was well supported by Karthik Sharma, who scored 54 runs off 40 balls. For Mumbai, Naman Dhir played a half-century innings of 57 runs, but it was not enough for victory. In bowling, Chennai’s Anshul Kamboj took 3 wickets and Noor Ahmad took 2 wickets.
