Kathmandu. The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Environment has prepared to import about 200,000 metric tons of chemical fertilizers into Nepal within the coming month of July. In order to provide relief to the farmers, the ministry has started the process of importing fertilizers through various means to ensure the supply of fertilizers which are needed more for rice.

According to the ministry, 30,000 metric tons of urea fertilizer is being brought from India under the Government-Government GTOG agreement. It is likely that the fertilizer will arrive in Nepal between the end of June and the second week of July. According to the agreement with India for 80,000 metric tons through JTOG, in the first phase, 50,000 metric tons of fertilizer will enter Nepal in the second week of July.
