Buddha Air plane crash update: Seven passengers including the co-pilot suffered minor injuries

Kathmandu. Seven passengers, including one crew member, were injured in the Buddha Air plane crash at Jhapa Bhadrapur Airport at 9:10 pm on Friday. Rajan Limbu, Superintendent of Police, District Police Office, Jhapa, gave preliminary information that Buddha Air's ATR 72 flight with call sign 901, which flew from Kathmandu to Bhadrapur, overran 300 meters on the east side of the runway and landed on grass and mud.

There were 51 passengers, four crew members and one aircraft engineer on board. Among them, 24-year-old pilot Sushant Shrestha and six other passengers were injured.

The injured are Sabin Jogi, 40, of Bhadrapur 10, Preshika Adhikari, 20, of Virtamode 7, Sumitra Jogi, 42, of Virtamode 1, Kamal Prasad Katuwal, 28, of Damak 1, Muna Ghatani, 40, of Kathmandu 16 and Priya Ghatani, 16, of Kathmandu (16).

The rescue team of the Nepal Police immediately took the injured to Omsai Pathibhara Hospital in Bhadrapur for treatment. Superintendent of Police Limbu informed that 24-year-old Sushant Shrestha, the co-pilot, who was injured in the head and face, is being treated at the hospital, while the other six injured have been 'discharged' and returned home after general treatment. The plane took off from Kathmandu to Bhadrapur at 8:23 pm on Friday night and while landing at Bhadrapur airport at 9:10 am, it over ran and the accident occurred.
