Bird flu is increasing in Kathmandu, infection confirmed in 82 places in eleven districts
Kathmandu. The bird flu 9H(5N(10) infection that has been seen in the valley for the last three months has started to spread rapidly. According to the Animal Services Department, the infection has been confirmed at 82 places in 11 districts and special precautions have been taken in the affected areas to control the disease.
After bird flu was first confirmed in Morang on 4 Chait 2082, the infection spread to Jhapa, Sunsari, Mahottari, Bara, Chitwan, Nawalparasi, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur and Kavrepalanchok.
According to Director General of Animal Services Department, Umesh Dahal, five lakh 69 thousand 858 birds have been destroyed during infection control. Likewise, he informed that 989 thousand 313 eggs and 1 thousand 954.85 quintals of grains were also destroyed. To control the disease, Animal Services Department has established a 'bird flu disease control room' under the leadership of the Deputy Director General and deployed technical teams in the affected areas in coordination with the Union, State and local levels.
