Batting 'collapse' drowned Nepal A, losing by 70 runs to Oman
Kathmandu. Nepal A was defeated by Oman by 70 runs in the practice ODI match at Upper Mulpani ground. Chasing a target of 281 runs, Nepal was bowled out for 210 runs.
Nepal got off to a great start and reached a strong figure of 177-2 at one point. But after adding only 33 runs, losing 8 wickets, the team went into 'collapse' and the victory slipped away.
Openers Anil Shah (50) and Tritraj Das (31) got off to a good start, while Ishan Pandey (52) and Dev Khanal (43) also laid the foundation for the win. But when the middle order and lower order completely failed, Nepal came under pressure.
Earlier, Oman, who won the toss and batted, made a competitive total of 280 runs. Captain Jatinder Singh (58) and Mujibur Ali (72) put Oman in a strong position. After the match, captain Anil Sah said that the main reason for the defeat was the inability of the set batters to 'finish' the game. For Nepal A, this loss has raised serious questions about batting consistency and ability to handle the game.
