Bakr Eid is being celebrated with joy all over the country, a public holiday for four consecutive days

Kathmandu. Bakr Eid, the second great festival of Muslims, is being celebrated today with great joy in mosques and Idgahs across the country. On the occasion of Idul Fitr, which is celebrated on the 70th day of Ramadan, the government has also given a public holiday across the country today.

Early this morning, Muslims took bath and gathered at Nepali Jame Masjid, Kashmiri Masjid on Darbarmarg in Kathmandu and offered mass prayers. After the prayer, they hug each other and exchange greetings. It is a religious tradition that this festival will be celebrated for three days starting from today till next Saturday.

According to the Hijri calendar, 1439 years ago, this festival was started to be celebrated in remembrance of Ibrahim's readiness to sacrifice his glorious and beloved son Ishmael Alej Salam at the command of Allah.
