After orbiting the Moon, 4 astronauts returned safely to Earth
Kathmandu. Four astronauts of the Artemis-2 mission have returned safely to Earth after spending about 10 days in space completing the orbit of the moon.
On Friday, the Orayan capsule they were carrying landed successfully in the Pacific Ocean. After more than half a century, this is the first historic mission to bring humans close to the moon and return them safely to Earth.
The mission was launched on April 1 from Cape Canaveral in Florida using the Space Launch System SLS rocket and covered a total distance of 11,17,515 km. American astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch and Canadian astronaut Jeremy Hanson participated in the mission.
This trip has set many records. Glover became the first black man, Koch the first woman, and Hanson the first non-American to walk on the moon. The team reached a distance of 46,771 km from the earth and surpassed the distance record set by the Apollo-13 mission in 1970.
