Administration Restructuring: Proposal to keep the number of Ministries at 17

Kathmandu. The government has announced a proposal to maintain the number of federal ministries at 17. Such an arrangement has been proposed in the draft of 'National Commitment' prepared on the basis of manifestos, pledges and commitments of six national parties. In the 11th point of the draft, it is mentioned that the number of federal ministries will be maintained at 17.
In addition, the plan to transform the office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers into a result-oriented center for direct monitoring of inter-ministerial coordination, climate change and large projects is included. It has also been proposed to move the National Planning Commission into a 'think tank' format focused on data and monitoring and to restructure the Policy Research Institute.
Likewise, it has been mentioned that a high-level administration structure review commission will be formed with the aim of developing a merit-based system to maintain effective coordination between the federation, state and local administration, removing unnecessary structures and functional duplication, and building public administration based on competition.
