Action will be taken against those who conduct polls 'live' online
Kathmandu. The Election Commission has directed to shut down 11 online polling stations involved in the "live" polling. Sita Pun, Co-Spokesperson of the Commission, said that the Commission has recommended the relevant authorities to take action against the online polling, which is not allowed to conduct the polling on February 21, against the code of conduct.
In the 'Election News and Code of Conduct Orientation' program organized for women journalists in collaboration with the Election Commission, she said, "Nepal's environment is different compared to other countries, the voters should be given the right to choose their representatives", she said, "The voters should be prevented from influencing the voters unnecessarily, the code of conduct has to be bound by the fact that the polls will lead the voters to a whim."
According to Section 23 of the Election Commission Act, 2073, if the election code of conduct is violated, a fine of Rs.1 lakh will be imposed and the candidature will be cancelled. Co-spokesperson Pun said that the role of media is important to make elections free, fair and fearless.
