Kathmandu. The Abuse of Authority Investigation Commission has filed a corruption case in a special court against 10 people, including Jhapa government employees and passport carriers, for correcting the date of birth while making passports. The Commission has filed a charge sheet on Tuesday saying that the then employees of Area Administration Office Gaurigunj and District Administration Office Jhapa had issued passports with a date different from the date of birth mentioned in the citizenship of the service recipient and had taken illegal benefits for that.

According to the commission's investigation, it has been found that the age of passport carriers has been reduced or increased from 1 to 8 years in collusion between the employees.
It has been found that Vinod Kunwar's passport was issued after 5 years, Govind Prasad Dhungel's 5 years and Balaram Mahato's age was reduced by 8 years and Simanta Vishwakarma's age was increased by 2 years. It has been found that such an act was done when issuing e-passports and also when issuing handwritten passports in 2013.

Among the main defendants who have filed the case are Chudamani Apgai, the then Chief Branch Officer of the Area Administration Office Gauriganj, Naib Subba Ravin Kumar Rajvanshi, Commuter Operator Akash Magar and Office Assistant Jeevan Kumar Dahal. Likewise, Lakshmi Prasad Kharel and Keshav Prasad Rizal, then administrative officers of District Administration Office Jhapa, have also been made defendants.
