A case was filed against 19 businessmen who adulterated food
Bagmati. Food Technology and Quality Control Office Hetauda has prepared to file a case against 19 businessmen on charges of food adulteration. A case is going to be filed against the businessmen based on the quality seen from the monitoring and testing of the samples collected by that office and various subordinate divisional offices.
According to Binita Pokharel, the head of the office, based on the quality observed from the monitoring and testing of the collected samples for the current fiscal year 2082-83, an investigation is underway to file a case against the businessmen under the Food Hygiene and Quality Act. "Based on the situation, we are investigating the case in coordination with the public prosecutor's offices", she said, "Due to the Genji movement, the case has not been registered in the court, now we will file the case within a few days." The said office filed a case against 44 traders in the previous year 2081-82.
Chief Pokharel informed that a case will be filed in the district court of the respective district against the businessmen who adulterated the samples collected during monitoring and sold expired goods in a way that is harmful to health. Chief Pokharel said that when the office analyzed 245 samples so far in the year 2082-83, 200 were edible and five were kept on hold.
Chief Pokharel said that since 16 samples were found to be negative during the testing of 365 samples during that period, the legal process will be carried out according to the rules, re-examination will be made to improve according to the standards and the businessmen will be made aware and made to make a commitment.
