8.2 magnitude earthquake, tsunami warning in Philippines
Kathmandu. A powerful earthquake of 8.2 magnitude occurred in the Philippines on Monday. The buildings were damaged by the earthquake. A tsunami warning has been issued after the earthquake. Residents of the affected areas have been asked to move to safer places.
Strong tremors were felt in different parts of the country. Some school and university buildings have also been damaged.
The earthquake struck near the coast of the southern Philippine island of Mindanao. This increases the risk of structural damage and possible tsunamis, officials said.
In videos that have gone viral on social media, buildings have been damaged due to the earthquake and people are seen fleeing to safer places. In a video shot on the premises of a school, students can be seen running towards an open field after the building started shaking.
